Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 15, 2026

This notice explains how Shardjoy (shardjoy.com) handles personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Shardjoy is operated by a private individual, not a company — see "Who operates this site" below.

1. Who operates this site

Shardjoy is a small, independently run editorial project operated by Eleni Papadopoulos, a private individual based at 146 Chetwynd St, North Melbourne VIC 3051, Australia. There is no company, trust or other legal entity behind this site — Eleni Papadopoulos is personally responsible for the content published here and for any personal information the site handles.

2. Scope of this notice

This notice applies to https://shardjoy.com and every page under it. It does not apply to Google Play, to any of the game developers whose titles are reviewed on this site, or to any other third-party site linked from here — each of those is covered by its own privacy terms.

3. What personal information is collected

Shardjoy does not run a contact form, a newsletter sign-up, an account system or any push-notification feature. The only personal information collected directly is what you choose to include in an email you send to [email protected] — typically your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write in the message.

Beyond that, Cloudflare, Inc., the content delivery and security provider used to host this site, processes standard technical data as part of delivering every page: your IP address, an approximate location derived from it, browser and device information, and the page requested. This happens for every visitor to every website using Cloudflare, independently of anything this site's owner configures, and is described further in section 7 below.

4. How and why information is used

Any information in an email sent to [email protected] is used solely to read, understand and reply to that email — for example, to correct a factual error in a review, discuss an image-rights question, or respond to a general enquiry about the site.

Technical delivery data handled by Cloudflare is used to serve the site's pages to your browser, protect the site against abusive traffic, and keep it available. This site's owner does not receive a per-visitor log of this data and does not use it for profiling, advertising or tracking individual visitors across other sites.

5. Australian Privacy Principles

This notice is intended to satisfy the relevant Australian Privacy Principles, including: APP 1 (open and transparent management of personal information, set out in this notice), APP 3 (collection is limited to what is described in section 3), APP 6 (personal information is used only for the purpose it was provided, as described in section 4), APP 8 (cross-border disclosure, covered in section 7), and APP 11 (reasonable steps are taken to protect information from misuse, covered in section 9). APPs 12 and 13, covering access to and correction of your own information, are addressed in section 11.

6. Cookies and browser storage

This site does not set its own tracking or advertising cookies. A single entry is written to your browser's local storage once you interact with the cookie notice shown on your first visit, recording only whether you accepted or dismissed it. Full detail on this, and on what Cloudflare may separately set, is on the Cookie Policy page.

7. Disclosure to third parties, including overseas

The only third party this site relies on is Cloudflare, Inc., used as a content delivery network and security layer for shardjoy.com. Cloudflare is a US-headquartered company with infrastructure in multiple countries, meaning technical delivery data described in section 3 may be processed outside Australia as part of routing and protecting site traffic. Cloudflare publishes its own privacy and data-processing documentation describing the safeguards it applies to this kind of processing.

No personal information collected through this site is sold, rented, or disclosed to advertisers, data brokers, or any party for marketing purposes. Email correspondence sent to [email protected] is not shared with anyone outside this site's operator.

8. Data retention

Emails sent to [email protected] are kept only for as long as reasonably needed to address the matter raised, and are deleted once that's no longer necessary — typically within a matter of months for routine correspondence. Technical delivery data handled by Cloudflare is retained under Cloudflare's own retention practices, not this site's.

9. Security

All traffic to this site is served over HTTPS. Reasonable steps are taken to keep the small amount of personal information this site does handle — chiefly, correspondence sent by email — secure, including relying on the account-level security of the email provider used. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and this notice does not claim otherwise.

10. Children's privacy

This site is a general-audience games guide and is not directed at children. No age-gated content is published here, and no personal information is knowingly collected from children through any feature of this site.

11. Your rights: access and correction

Under APPs 12 and 13, you can ask what personal information (if any) this site holds about you — realistically, this will only be a past email you sent — and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Send a request to [email protected] and it will be actioned directly, since there is no separate data-holding team to route it through.

12. Complaints

If you believe this site has mishandled your personal information, contact Eleni Papadopoulos directly at [email protected] first, so the matter can be looked at and, where appropriate, corrected. If you're not satisfied with the response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, Australia — oaic.gov.au.

13. Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the site or to applicable law. The current version applies from the date shown below, which is kept in step across every legal page on this site.
